WWII eye-witness visit to Class 3 and 4

The pupils of both Class 3 and Class 4 were given the opportunity to learn about the first hand experiences of somebody who lived through WWII.  Mrs Greenfield very kindly arranged for her gran to come in and talk to the children about her childhood experiences of growing up in Nottingham during war time.  The children asked her a wide range of questions that they had prepared and our guest answered with some very interesting and enlightening responses which not only informed the pupils of her experiences, but also demonstrated both the attitudes and determination of the people at that time.

After the talk, the children enjoyed a WWII ‘street party’ in our classroom courtesy of the pupils who had chosen to create a WWII party menu as their termly homework project.  The party atmosphere was enhanced with a soundtrack of popular WWII music from the likes of Glen Miller and Dame Vera Lynn.  A great time was had by all!
